Spice Monkey Cafe and Restaurant

 eclectic fresh California fusion cuisine

    1628 Webster Street, Oakland, CA

Open since 2008 this place already has many devoted diners.  That is not surprising considering their creative and delightful menu, as well the very cordial owners and staff.

Their website will provide all the relevant details including a full copy of their menu.  They provide a variety both sandwiches and dinner fare, with items also suited to vegetarian, vegan and those with gluten-free preferences.

However in a personal note, following a recent art show opening and party using their optional upstairs room, I couldn’t be more impressed with their generosity and eagerness to provide the best of hosting for our evening there.  The exterior full tile facade greets the eye and only begins your introduction to the comfortable and casual interior with its own functioning fountain, a relic of former days, along with fireplace, and of course fine food from local sources prepared from scratch.

There are many many fine restaurants here of course, but I like to make note of those where the owners and staff have a genuine passion for craft, business and their community.
