circumnavigations
a word can travel round the globe
or navigate the inches, lips to ears,
a whisper’s fetch.
meaning is resonance, displaced
palms
and says a bare simple phrase,
I found this stick, so wrote our
names in the sand.
a boat or fallen leaf will float
given even shallow draft.
look down, feel the tug
here is what waves carry
and hew
shore onto shore, lapping
the taste of salt wet toes.
is this all real someone asks?
yes, someone responds, here,
take this stick into your hand,
now, write your poem dear
big and round as the ocean is.

Absolutely love this one Neil. Fantastic to watch your words dive deep with meaning and speak like the ebb and flow of the sea.
Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth. Any excuse to hear your voice…
Immediate, visceral this one, so I’m fond of this as well (not much thinking I mean) (meaning more trustworthy too).
